For startups

The security plan your first
enterprise customer asks for.

Vendor security questionnaires, investor due diligence and SOC 2 readiness all start with the same thing: a written information security plan. WispMint's AI writes yours from a few questions about how your team actually works.

Why you need one

Security questions arrive before you're ready.

The first time a customer, investor or partner asks "do you have a written security policy?", the right answer is a dated PDF, not a promise.

Close the deal

Enterprise customers send security questionnaires before signing. A written plan with MFA, access control and incident response answers most of them.

Pass diligence

Investors and acquirers ask for your security policies. A plan that names owners, safeguards and review dates shows the company is run properly.

Start toward SOC 2

Compliance frameworks begin with written policies. Your WISP is the foundation, and Business Pro adds the access, acceptable use and incident response policies auditors expect.

What's inside

Everything a startup's first security plan needs.

Your real stack, named

Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, your cloud provider, laptops, remote work and how customer data flows through your product.

Risk assessment, written for you

AI reads your answers and writes a risk assessment for a company of your size and stage, in plain English.

Access and device controls

MFA, offboarding, encryption and remote work stated as policy, with a dated action item for anything not yet in place.

Incident response plan

Who decides, how you contain an incident, and how you notify customers under state breach laws and your contracts.

Vendor oversight

A register of the services you rely on and how you review them, the question every security questionnaire asks.

Sign-off pages

Team acknowledgment, training checklist and review log, so the plan reads as a living document.

Questions

Startup questions.

Is a WISP the same as a security policy?

A Written Information Security Plan is your overall security program in one document: who owns it, what you protect, which safeguards you use and how you respond to incidents. Business Pro adds the individual policies (acceptable use, access, retention, remote work, training) that frameworks and questionnaires list separately.

Will this get us SOC 2?

No single document does. But SOC 2 and similar frameworks require written policies first, and WispMint gives you a complete, dated set in an afternoon instead of a quarter.

We're three people. Do we need this?

If you're selling to businesses, yes, and the earlier the better. WispMint sizes the plan to your team, so a three-person startup gets a short plan, not a binder.

Can we edit it as we grow?

Yes. Every plan comes with an editable Word copy, and WISP Plus lets you update your answers and regenerate the plan anytime with version history.

What if we don't have every control yet?

Normal for an early-stage company. Your plan states the policy and adds a dated action item for each gap, which is exactly what diligence reviewers want to see.

Is this legal advice?

No. WispMint builds your plan from NIST and FTC guidance, state law and your answers. You're responsible for following it and keeping it current.
